Integrations

ServiceTrade Integrations connect your ERP, accounting, and other tools to reduce double entry, speed up billing, and keep data consistent across field and office teams.

ServiceTrade Launches the First Native Integration with Dynamics 365 Business Central

ServiceTrade is the only field service management software with a native integration to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The integration connects through standard APIs and syncs customers, locations, contacts, approved invoices, credit memos, and approved timecards between both systems automatically, with no file exports and no manual reconciliation. It's built for commercial service contractors running Dynamics 365 for accounting, or migrating off Microsoft Great Plains, who want field operations and finance working from the same records instead of two.

Most contractors running Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and a separate field service software have accepted double entry as the cost of doing business. It goes like this: A tech closes a job. Someone in accounting retypes the invoice into the general ledger. Every month, the finance team spends days matching one system against the other, chasing down rejected invoices and explaining discrepancies nobody planned for.

That gap is expensive in ways that don’t show up on a single line item. It shows up…

  • In a close that runs long
  • An audit that takes an extra week
  • And a CFO who doesn’t fully trust the numbers coming out of either system

A Native Path From Field Work to Finance

ServiceTrade is now the only field service management software with a native integration to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

For commercial service contractors already running Dynamics 365, or planning a migration off Microsoft Great Plains, that means field operations and accounting can finally run from the same set of records instead of two versions of the truth.

The integration connects directly to your existing Dynamics 365 environment through standard APIs. That means:

  • There’s no file to export
  • No spreadsheet to reconcile by hand
  • And no custom AL extension for IT to maintain.

Customers, locations, contacts, approved invoices, credit memos, and approved timecards move between the two systems on their own, carrying the GL accounts, tax codes, and dimensions your Dynamics 365 setup already expects.

Bidirectional Sync Without the Reconciliation Chase

Master data syncs both directions. Update a customer record in ServiceTrade and it shows up in Dynamics 365. Update it in Dynamics 365 and ServiceTrade reflects the change on the next cycle.

When both systems update the same record, the integration uses audited last-write-wins conflict resolution, so finance can trace exactly what changed and when. Contractors who need tighter control can set system-of-record rules per field: Dynamics 365 always wins on tax setup, ServiceTrade always wins on service-site address.

That bidirectional link runs on billing, too.

When a payment is posted in Dynamics 365, the matching invoice in ServiceTrade updates to be paid in near real time. Operations leaders stop fielding “did we get paid?” calls from customers and stop working off an accounts receivable picture that’s a day or two stale.

Invoices Post with Fewer Surprises

No integration eliminates every posting exception. What changes is what happens when one occurs. Before an invoice reaches Dynamics 365, pre-post validation checks for a missing customer, an invalid tax code, or an unmapped GL account, so failures surface at the source instead of breaking your close.

When an invoice does bounce back, the error names exactly what to fix, and your AR team resolves it from the sync log without opening a support ticket or waiting on IT.

Accounting setup import and validation, the ability to check GL, tax, terms, and dimension setup for Dynamics 365 compatibility before go-live, is planned as a future addition. Today, the integration already cuts down the rejected-invoice churn that comes from mismatched setup.

An Audit Trail Finance Can Point to

Every sync, whether it succeeds or fails, leaves a record: what was sent, what came back, and what conflict decision was made and why.

If a customer, technician, or auditor asks what happened to a specific invoice, your team answers from the sync log instead of digging through email threads.

Syncs are also safe to re-run. Retries never create a duplicate invoice or double-count a payment. That matters more as volume grows. A contractor running 50 invoices a month can possibly survive a manual fix. A contractor running 5,000 can’t afford to.

Built for the Way Microsoft-centric Contractors Actually Work

This integration is built for commercial contractors making Microsoft their system of record for accounting, not for teams willing to run a separate integration tool on top of it.

Finance owns the GL mapping through a self-service console, so when your chart of accounts changes, your team updates the routing rules directly instead of filing an engineering ticket.

That’s the standard ServiceTrade is holding itself to: connect the field to the ledger with the same rigor a controller expects from Dynamics 365 itself. Eliminate the double entry. Cut the reconciliation work. Give finance a trail they can stand behind at close and at audit.

FAQs

Is ServiceTrade’s Dynamics 365 Business Central integration native, or does it require a third-party connector? It’s native. ServiceTrade connects directly to D365 Business Central through standard APIs. There’s no file export, no manual spreadsheet reconciliation, and no custom AL extension for IT to build or maintain.

What data syncs between ServiceTrade and D365 Business Central? Customers, locations, contacts, approved invoices, credit memos, and approved timecards sync between the two systems. Each record carries the GL accounts, tax codes, and dimensions already configured in D365.

Does the integration sync in both directions? Yes. Master data syncs both ways. Update a customer record in ServiceTrade and it appears in D365. Update it in D365 and ServiceTrade picks up the change on the next cycle. Billing works the same way: when a payment posts in D365, the matching invoice in ServiceTrade updates to paid in near real time.

What happens if the same record is updated in both systems at once? The integration uses audited last-write-wins conflict resolution, so finance can trace what changed and when. Contractors can also set system-of-record rules by field, for example letting D365 always win on tax setup while ServiceTrade always wins on service-site address.

What happens when an invoice fails to post to D365? Pre-post validation checks for issues like a missing customer, invalid tax code, or unmapped GL account before the invoice ever reaches D365. If one does bounce back, the error identifies exactly what to fix, and the AR team resolves it from the sync log without a support ticket or an IT request.

Is it safe to re-run a failed sync? Yes. Retries don’t create duplicate invoices or double-count payments, which matters as invoice volume grows. A contractor processing 5,000 invoices a month can’t rely on manual fixes the way one processing 50 might.

Who owns GL mapping when the chart of accounts changes? Finance does, through a self-service console. When the chart of accounts changes, the team updates routing rules directly instead of filing an engineering ticket.

Who is this integration built for? Commercial service contractors who run Microsoft as their system of record for accounting, including those planning a migration off Microsoft Great Plains. It’s built for teams that want field operations and finance on the same records, not for teams willing to run a separate integration tool on top of D365.

Does the integration create an audit trail? Every sync, successful or failed, logs what was sent, what came back, and what conflict decision was made and why. If a customer, technician, or auditor asks about a specific invoice, the team can answer from the sync log instead of searching through email.

Is accounting setup validation available before go-live? Not yet. Accounting setup import and validation, which will check GL, tax, terms, and dimension setup for D365 compatibility before go-live, is planned as a future addition. Today, the integration already reduces rejected-invoice churn caused by mismatched setup.
