From operational chaos to 76% revenue growth: How archer built a customer-first service business

Based in Kent, Washington, Archer Construction is a second-generation, family-owned contractor serving commercial and industrial customers throughout the Pacific Northwest. Through its Archer Fire Protection division, the company provides commercial fire sprinkler inspections, service, and repairs with one guiding principle: exceed clients’ expectations.

Today, Archer’s Fire Protection Service Division has grown revenue by 76%—from $1.8 million to more than $3.1 million—while earning a reputation for exceptional customer service and referral-driven growth. But just a few years ago, the business was struggling to keep up with its own success.

“As a family-owned company, our reputation means everything. Every customer interaction reflects who we are. ServiceTrade has helped us build processes that support our people, improve the customer experience, and position us for continued growth.”

—Wade Archer, President

Operating in chaos

That growth didn’t come easily. As Archer’s Fire Protection Service Division expanded, the manual processes supporting the business couldn’t keep pace, making it harder to deliver the level of customer service the company aspired to provide.

“We had file folders for every location,” recalled Lisa Wallis, Archer’s Head of Accounting. Customer records lived in filing cabinets, while office staff and technicians relied on paper files, emails, text messages, and spreadsheets to track assets, coordinate service calls, and process invoices. Instead of serving customers, valuable time was spent searching for information, managing paperwork, and coordinating work manually.

“We were operating in complete organizational dysfunction,” said Doug Early, Vice President of Archer Construction. “Essentially, it was chaos.”

The manual processes frustrated office staff, limited technician productivity, and created a frustrating experience for customers—making it increasingly difficult to grow the business while delivering the level of service Archer wanted to be known for. Archer’s leadership team knew they needed a better way to run the business.

Running a smarter, more efficient service operation

Determined to build a highly efficient, customer-focused service organization, Archer selected ServiceTrade as the operational backbone of its Fire Protection Service Division. The goal was simple: replace disconnected, manual processes with one connected platform that empowered technicians, streamlined office operations, and delivered a better customer experience.

The implementation required digitizing years of paper records and customer history, but the investment quickly paid off. Scheduling, customer records, service history, and invoicing were finally managed in one place. Technicians could access job details from the field, office staff gained real-time visibility into service activity, and customers could easily access service reports, invoices, and online payment options.

“Getting all of our paper records into ServiceTrade took time, but once everything was in ServiceTrade, it’s been great,” said Wallis. “There is just no comparison. Everything runs smoothly now.”

With ServiceTrade connecting the office, field, and customers, Archer transformed the way its Fire Protection Service Division operated. Employees spent less time managing paperwork and more time serving customers, while leadership gained the visibility needed to support continued growth.

Most importantly, with ServiceTrade, Archer’s leadership established the operational foundation needed to deliver the level of customer service the company had always envisioned.

Integrating ServiceTrade with Sage Intacct

After transforming its service operations with ServiceTrade, Archer’s leadership saw an opportunity to extend those efficiencies across the business. When the company upgraded its accounting system to Sage Intacct, ensuring ServiceTrade and Sage Intacct operated as one connected system became a key requirement.

Working closely with the ServiceTrade team, Archer seamlessly integrated ServiceTrade and Sage Intacct, eliminating duplicate work and creating a continuous flow of information between the operations and finance teams. Instead of manually entering invoices into the ERP system, invoice data now flows automatically between ServiceTrade and Sage Intacct, reducing administrative work, improving accuracy, and accelerating the billing process.

“The ServiceTrade-Intacct integration was the smoothest software transition I’ve ever been through,” said Wallis, Archer’s Head of Accounting. “The ServiceTrade team handled so much behind the scenes that once we went live, it just worked.”

Melissa Edwards, who manages the day-to-day accounting workflow, experienced the impact firsthand. “The implementation team from ServiceTrade has been amazing. Once we shared how our business operated and mapped our data, it’s been running as smooth as butter.”

Today, Archer’s service and accounting teams operate from one seamless workflow, giving both teams real-time visibility into the information they need to do their jobs.By eliminating manual processes and connecting information across the business, Archer has created a more efficient operation that allows employees to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time supporting customers.

Built for growth. Known for service.

Today, Archer’s Fire Protection Service Division is growing with confidence. Since implementing ServiceTrade, Archer’s Fire Protection Service Division has grown from $1.8 million in 2021 to more than $3.1 million in 2025.

Growth, Doug Early says, would have been difficult, if not impossible, with the manual processes they relied on before. “We would not have been able to support this growth without ServiceTrade,” said Early. “We certainly wouldn’t have been able to make our customers so happy.”

The transformation has delivered measurable benefits across every part of the business:

Exceptional customer service has become one of Archer’s greatest competitive advantages. Much of the company’s new business comes through customer referrals—a reflection of the trust the team has earned by consistently delivering on its commitment to customers.

“Our work speaks for itself,” said Early. “We strive to have good customer service, to listen to our customers, and to make things easy for them. ServiceTrade makes achieving those goals possible.”
